It appears to tied to heavy SMTP traffic from local users. I was paying
close attention this weekend. If a local user got a spamming trojan and
sent out several hundred emails within a 10 minute period or so, that's
when it would max the ram. Which leads to the next question. What is the
best way to prevent users from sending out mass volumes of spam when
they get a trojan, as well as get a notification that this type of event
occurred?

I have seen this happen once recently. SMTPd32.exe was using 1.3GB of
RAM. I haven't seen it again but I've definitely been watching for it.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Apparent Memory Leak in SMTPD32

I appear to have a memory leak in the smtpd32 process. I am running
8.15hf1 and am seeing times when the smtpd32 process will consume all
available memory and the spool will only have a couple hundred items in
it, including a weeks worth of logs. I am also running Declude Junkmail
and Virus version 2.0.6. I've seen it using as much as a gig of ram. If
I stop and restart the service memory usage drops back to about 7 Meg's.
Then within 8 hours or so it's back to consuming all available ram
again. It will go on like this about a day and then be fine for a week
or so and then start doing it again. Any insight would be appreciated.

TIA,
Art Plato
