it already is the system account. i've just re-installed 8.20 'cause i see this (still) in the syslog:
05:01 11:11 SMTP-(0000000000000000) Unable to initialize the trial engine. This EXE may be corrupted, please reinstall. If the problem persists, please contact Ipswitch support.
but that appears to be the smtp service? my guess is its related, i'm gonna go see if knowlege base has anything on this...

According to Microsoft Technet, Error 2140 means the account that is attempting to start the service is not a member of the LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR GROUP.
You might want to change the settings in the SERVICES control panel for Imail Queue Manager to run under a LOCAL SYSTEM ACCOUNT so it overrides anything that IMail's installation program may have done to the login for the Queue Manager Account in the Services panel.

no error messages. if i try to start the service from imail admin, it says its started...till i refresh the screen or go to windows services window, where i see it is still NOT started. if i try to start from windows services, i get a generic error: Could not start the Imail Queue Manager service on \\COMPUTER Error 2140: An internal Windows NT error occurred.
we've searched the registry for domains not pointing to virtual ips correctly (and vice versa), everything there looks ok? are there any command line arguments to start queue manager in debug mode? or is there some place that it will log to?

Are you getting any error messages from the queue manager?

Is anyone running IMail 8.2 on a Windows NT server? If so, have you encountered any problems?
Yes, I know it's now obsolete, but I may have a new customer who has his own mail server and he's still running NT on everything. He's also running IMail 8.0 and has an existing service agreement.
Thanks in advance for any responses. Bruce Barnes
