The following line from your log didn't show the closing bracket:

05:09 17:53 SMTPD(dbd0097000bc7679) [WEBSERVER-IP] MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]

IMail will still accept this as a valid address, but it isn't technically valid. I would suspect that there may be other issues going on during the session if a mistake this simple is being made.

Aside from that, IMail might fail a connection from time to time, just not consistently from the same source. If those log entries were all that were shown for that message, it was not received completely. If the failures are consistent for specific sources, then try searching your logs for more occurrences of "dbd0097000bc7679" or other such examples to see if something else was logged for this message that might suggest the issue.

Dear List,

(Runningr IMAIL version 8.13 and DECLUDE antivirus--Windows 2000 server--Not
using IMAIL anti-spam features)

For some reason (I do not know Why) IMAIL sometimes cannot process some
emails. The two servers start talking each other, but the talk
stops --according to the logs (I checked Spam logs and Declude logs, and
couldn't find any trace of this connection)

For instance, using a Mail Web-Form application (ALpha5 version 6 Web
server), the following is all what I could find about the interaction
between the web server and the IMAIL server:

05:09 17:53 SMTPD(dbd0097000bc7679) [MY_MAIL_SERVER_IP] connect WEBSERVER-IP
port 1160
05:09 17:53 SMTPD(dbd0097000bc7679) [WEBSERVER-IP] EHLO WEBSERVER_FORM
05:09 17:53 SMTPD(dbd0097000bc7679) [WEBSERVER-IP] MAIL FROM:
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]
05:09 17:53 SMTPD(dbd0097000bc7679) [WEBSERVER-IP] RCPT TO:
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The end result the email is not sent. ( I have tested this same situation
using two different IMAIL servers (in two different companies)

But when I make the Web server use another email server (using QMAIL), there
is no problem at all.

Why do the logs stop showing the rest of the email-talk? I do not see that
any Q-file is created.

Any suggestion?

Mario Antonio
