After some iMail application exploring I found a area where I could turn off 'Verify MAIL FROM address'. Once this was off the x-imail-spam-valfrom header disappeared. I am going to dig deeper to find out what the risks are of not having this enabled however.

When you say > the spam gateway doesn't know who the user is do you mean the user > who is sending or who the message needs to be delivered to? The user who is sending -- the MAIL FROM. An MX that doesn't have a copy of the userbase for gatewayed domains can be a dangerous thing. However, this will NOT cause a failure of the VALFROM test (in fact, the opposite, as all VALFROMs will pass). However, Eric points out that the PIX is causing the test to _time out_, and this appropriately constitutes a VALFROM fail. > And what other ways can I test like you have?
