Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] IMail
Upgradation Information
Hello,
Whenever we do sever upgrades, we bring in one of our disks (from a
mirrored set) install the disk in an exact replica of the hardware, run any
upgrades/changes and note any problems or issues to watch when doing the
actual install/upgrade.
We then take and put the disk back in the production server, sync the
disk with the mirror, then take it back out and upgrade only the one disk
first, so we have a live backup if something goes wrong. Then we
unplug the network cable and go to town, then shut down, install the second
disk, boot and sync the disks and everything's a-ok.
Full backups are also a good thing to have when you do any major
upgrades, but doing it like I just described and haven't had any major
issues while upgrading, and if we did there's always the spare disk to just
throw back in and try again another time.
Hope that
helps,
Shaun
