You enable port 587 using
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SMTPD32\Parameters\
EnableExtraPort

0 = off
1 = on

You can change the port number usung
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SMTPD32\Parameters\
ExtraPort

587 = default

You can force SMTP AUTH on extra port using
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SMTPD32\Parameters\
ForceAuthOnExtraPort

0 = off (uses SMTP Relay settings)
1 = on (forces auth always)

        I was thinking port 256 was the authentication port Imail built
into Imail 8.2x. I thought wrong. Does port 587 use the SMTP relay
settings also? Or is it totally Auth only.

        NO, it will still depend on Relay Settings in the SMTP service.

        Why are you using port 256?

        Hello All,

        Just curious if anyone is having issues with having port 256
open. I was testing that I could send email using this port on the new
version of Imail, but noticed that I don't have to have it set that My
Server Requires Authentication. That tells me that anyone can send thru
my Imail server without having to authenticate if they use this port.
Anyone else seeing this?

        Thanks,
