"Can  be  achieved"?  With  what software? Look, you're faced with the
current  feature  set  of your installed platform(s). Your solution of
making  port 25 the alternative auth-only port sounds like a fine one,
as Postfix can deliver to another port. Have you tried it?

BTW, generally speaking, questioning the skills or application-to-task
of  software developers (commercial or internal) is not the way to get
your   requests   implemented.   Tripp   already  mentioned  that  the
alternative  port  feature was not expected to be in this release, let
alone additional sub-features. You're going to have to live with it or
work around it, not complain about salaries and time.
