Interesting. I just renewed my maintenance for my stand-alone Imail.
They are continuing with the product, at least for now.

At 10:26 AM 7/22/2005, you wrote:

We moved to a UNIX mail server. We have less than 100 users

so it was

not too painful to manually create mail boxes. The new Ipswitch and
Imail collaboration product is overkill for our needs. I

just liked an

easy to manage email product but the cost of maintaining the now
orphaned imail is not justified.

I am sure the marketing people at Ipswitch knew they would

loose much

of their installed base when they made the change and dropped free
standing Imail.

This is a list I kept from the last time someone asked about
alternatives

"having gone through all of the list of the past 24hrs below

seems to

be the list of alternative email servers for people to consider now
that Imail as an email server is dead.

If people have any reviews of them please add to this list.

So far there have been positive reviews of Merak Mail, Mail

Enable and

Smartertools

Smartermail www.smartertools.com NB comes with an Imail Migration
Utility http://www.mailenable.com

servers on a website."

Once again if someone from ipswitch monitor this list please

remove me

because your remove from list option does not work.

I haven't stopped by the Ipswitch site for awhile. I see

there's now

an ICS ISP/EDU edition that their feature comparison

matrix shows to

basically be IMail. The unlimited user version is only Six

Thousand

Dollars (well, ok its actually $5995, but that 5-dollar

discount is so

we don't see that its effectively Six THOUSAND Dollars).

For a mail

server.

As an Imail registered user I am entitled to a steep

discount: I pay

only Four Thousand Dollars ($3995). Thats 1/3 off! Its

not what you

spend, its what you save.

I surely hope that, for their own sake, Ipswitch read the

market right

and found a new customer demographic that they are happier with. I
can remember a LOT more traffic on this list before ICS was born.
