Well, even if you switch to IMAP, client timeout may seemingly break the
connection at the wrong moment on 'mboxes' (like my >100M Monster-Spambox)
As far as I foud out debian-sarge's thunderbird has a fixed timeout
of only 29 Seconds!!!
Only after installing the 'about:config'-Extension and changing the
timeouts to 300 Seconds with it, I could read the Boxes correctly.
(I let them grow, because I had no problem with pine and mutt via NFS :-)
May be it happened to the users 'now' because of the new picture-spams
which enlarge all our INBOXes more and more in the last weeks...
