I do not know why 64-bit builds do not work for some people. I have only
anecdotal information that some people have had problems.
I doubt very much that this is something that I can fix by ssh'ing into
someone else's 64-bit system, poking around for a few minutes, and calling
it good. I suspect that it will be a protracted process.
