I have also done my homework, browsing RFC:s and source code, and found
HideDotFiles, and the corresponding option, so now my c-client.cf includes:
set hide-dot-files 1
which solved our problem.
This option has been around at least since 2004e but is undocumented in
docs/imaprc.txt. Does this mean that is is experimental and may be removed?
In that case I will switch to setting HideDotFiles=T in env_unix.c, but in
general i find the configuration file approach more flexible.
Just thought I'd comment myself to make things more clear: Yes I have
read imaprc.txt thoroughly, and fully understand all the warnings. I
totally agree that a global configuration file for all c-client
applications generally is a bad idea. However, on a stand-alone imap
server with only one application the file provides a convenient
alternative.
So what I really meant to ask is if there is any distinction between the
options mentioned in imaprc.txt and those not. Are the undocumented
options necessarily more experimental, or is it just that the
documentation covers the most usful options?
