No; you can use Outlook with Exchange protocol and give up on using any
non-proprietary solution. That will make the PHB's happy. Then, when the
limitations of doing so become apparent, you can get a separate native
IMAP server installed.
In fairness to the Exchange front end it seems to work OK.
Indeed, Exchange works fine when used as Exchange.
