Very few people run SCO systems, so it may be difficult to find someone
who knows enough about the issue to help you.

Your best bet is run run imapd as root under a debugger such as gdb,
with a breakpoint at routine checkpw() (in file ckp_sv4.c). Start imapd,
give the command "x login username password" (substitute your own
username and password), and then single-step when it hits the
breakpoint. Once you find which test has failed, look at the various
fields and the code to determine why.

I suspect that you ran afoul of the password expiration logic in the sv4
password validation method. Only very old systems use that method.
Most systems use either the standard (traditional) method, the POSIX
method, or PAM.

Also...:

sc5 may be a more suitable build for your system than uw2. According
to my notes, SCO changed the password authentication mechanism in
Openserver 5. However, I don't pretend to be an expert on SCO.

Good luck.
