I'm interfacing with the Gmail IMAP server. Is it normal that stream.nmsgs is smaller than the status->messages returned by mm_status when calling status_mail(...SA_MESSAGES)? It seems stream.nmsgs is the more correct number, since trying to retrieve the ELT of the mail with messageindex stream.nmsgs+1 (< status.messages) generates a "Bad msgno" error. This happens with only one specific Mailbox, but different users are reporting different differences. From only 3 to as many as 50 "phantom" mails.
It's probably a bug in the Gmail IMAP server, just like the problem I had in my previous mail, but I wanted to check either way.
