What version of Apple's Mail.app is being used? I keep many IMAP clients open at the same time [including Mail and Pine, Alpine, IMP, and Postbox [a thunderbird fork]. Mail is by the far the least hogging in connections used [i'd be lucky if it used 4 connections to connect to my server - i have over 1000 mailboxes, so quitting and restarting Mail is a bit of a pain, which is why it's nice to be able to access my e.mail from other clients :) ]. I'm using v 4.5 [1084] from Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6.8. It's the most stable, but still not where I'd like it to be, Mail.app version yet. Problems with IMAP connections kept me from using it much prior to 10.6. I have a Lion [10.7] machine I use for development, but Mail.app is a big step backwards in usability, so I don't use it and can't comment on how many connections it uses. Actually most of Lion is a big step backwards, but that's for another list and topic. ;) /vjl/_______________________________________________ Imap-uw mailing list [email protected] http://mailman2.u.washington.edu/mailman/listinfo/imap-uw
