This is a Solaris 8 system I am working on. 

Not that familiar with C, but I am with PERL

Looks at line 794 env_unix.c needs to changed somehow..

Any suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

This might not be a stock feature, but assuming you are on a Unix system,
the file to edit should be osdep/unix/env_unix.c

I have made some rather drastic mods to there in the past >g<
