Both the IMAP server and clients are on a local LAN, and DNS is fine.

I've recently uninstalled 2002 and installed 2000, this too seems to struggle too.

In about 3 folders there is about 1,800 emails and the rest have between 3 and 800, This shouldn't be too much surely.

As far as I can tell, we've had no problems with any versions of Outlook on our UW-IMAP installation.  We're running 2001.303.  You can easily try it at www.sortonce.com - try the free account.

We've come across slowdown issues such as you described.  They usually have to do with parts of the server doing reverse DNS lookups on the client IP address.  I know you've investigated this a bit, but there may be more to it.  For example, by default, UW-IMAP does a reverse lookup at osdep/unix/tcp_unix.c - tcp_open().  We've turned some of these off on our system.

Good Luck!!!!

Okay, so there seems to be NO way round getting Outlook 2002 to work stably on UWIM,

What about Outlook 2000? Is it worth downgrading to Outlook 2000? Is anyone having similar issues with Outlook 2000?

Cheers,
