I've had a couple of problems reported with Outlook Express on the Mac with
our IMAP4 server.
It looks as if it's order specific - if our IMAP4 server returns FETCH data
in its own order, then OE complains that it can't read the message, but if
it returns data in the order which OE used in the FETCH command, then it
works fine.
Two log samples from our server are below:
OE won't accept this one:
30/4/2002 12:51:27.995 - 00000001<A005 UID FETCH 133030:* (UID FLAGS
INTERNALDATE RFC822.SIZE RFC822.HEADER)
30/4/2002 12:52:11.369 - 00000001>* 3 FETCH (FLAGS () INTERNALDATE
"30-Apr-2002 11:47:11 +0000" RFC822.HEADER {231}

I've tried everything I can think of to show that it's NOT the ordering
which matters (I can't believe Microsoft would do something so daft..) but
so far I can't make OE accept the message with the ordering different to
that requested.
I've tried:
- checking the literal size {231} is correct for the data being sent
- checking there's a space after the 231st character of the header literal
- etc
It all looks correct.
We haven't had any problems like this reported with other IMAP4 email
clients (including OE for Windows, and Mulberry on the Mac)
Any comments from anyone? Am I missing something obvious?
I've done the testing with Outlook Express for the Mac V5.0.4 (the latest I
could find on MS's website)
