We've been using IMAP for 10 years and it meets our basic needs. However, we (actually our customers diverge) with the IMAP author's opinion of how delete and deleted messages should be handled. I personally agree and think delete should be as provided by the protocol because I'm lazy; however, I don't pay my own salary so I don't have the priviledge of having an inflexible opinion.
