We have just put a new server into production
running UW-imapd-ssl. Within an hour or
two we started getting the following message
in syslog:

Jul 1 08:32:51 messenger inetd[19852]: imap2/tcp server failing (looping), service
terminated

I read the UW-Imapd documentation and it suggested that we
increase the max connections per minute allowed for the imap2
port in the inetd.conf file. This helped, however, our problem
did not go away entirely. Instead of getting the error message
every 2-6 minutes, we now get it every 12 minutes or so. We've
tried setting the max really high (100,000) but even that does
not eliminate the problem.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be going on here? Is this
a bug in inetd or uw-imapd? Should I switch to a different
inetd server like xinetd? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
