One problem at a time! Your test was not any good; telnet to an imaps port never works. You don't know whether there is a problem with your server installation, with your Netscape configuration, or both. The first thing that you have to do is make sure that your server installation is good. That is why I suggested using the "s_client" command in the openssl program (which is bundled with OpenSSL). Once you get the results from that test, you will know if there is anything wrong with your server installation. If there is something wrong with your server installation, you need to fix that before moving on. Once you are sure that your server installation is working OK, then try Netscape. If it works, you're done. If not, first try another client (such as Pine) to verify once more that your server installation is good. If it works with Pine, then the problem is in how you have Netscape configured.
