Hi, I've recently installed imap-uw imapd. I worked perfectly for a few
days but recently clients seem to time out when connecting.

Telnetting from anywhere (including localhost) I see the following
behaviour:

mike@shadow:~$telnet localhost imap
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.

Then there's a delay of over a minute before:

* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 LOGIN-REFERRALS STARTTLS AUTH=LOGIN] localhost
IMAP4rev1 2002.334 at Mon, 23 Dec 2002 13:41:36 +0000 (GMT)

The server is a pretty standard OpenBSD 3.2 i386 installation. The load on
the server machine is around 0.10 most of the time and there should be no
appreciable delay accessing the mail or home directories. imapd is stated
from initd using the following config:

imap stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/libexec/imapd
imapd
imaps stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/libexec/imapd
imapd

I originally suspected it to be a DNS issue as suggested in the faq but the
resolver config is fine and forward and reverse DNS to all client locations
is working perfectly. Identd is available on the server machine although I
don't believe it's actually queried during connections to imapd. This
behaviour is the same with or without using SSL.

Is there anything else that the server does in the time between starting and
displaying the banner? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Mike
