I apologize in advance if this is not the correct list to post this
question.

I installed RedHat 8.0 which included the following packages:

imap-2001a-15
openssl-0.9.6b-31

We are able to use the imapd in the above package read mail from our
server, but when we try to send mail from a client program such as
Outlook, the user will get an error message:

The connection to the server has failed. \
    Account: 'candler.cs.unca.edu', Server: 'candler.cs.unca.edu', \
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, \
    Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I downloaded and compiled imapd using the following command:

    make lnp SSLTYPE=none

and tried using that but still see the same error.

Using the RedHat imapd and a client program other than Outlook, I see
messages such as this in /var/log/maillog:

Mar 5 15:17:31 candler imapd[28491]: imap service init from \
       152.18.16.15
Mar 5 15:17:31 candler imapd[28491]: Unable to accept SSL connection,
       host=rocky.unca.edu [152.18.16.15]
Mar 5 15:17:31 candler imapd[28491]: SSL error status:
       error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong \
       version number

Any suggestions how to fix this, or can anyone tell me what is wrong?

Thanks!
