For starters, I think that the responses need to be reordered:
s : * 1 EXPUNGE
s : * 2 EXPUNGE
Not necessarily. But if they do, the correct response would be:

s : * 1 EXPUNGE
s : * 1 EXPUNGE
(the first expunge decreases subsequent message numbers).
