I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I can't find any documentation that
explains how to solve this problem and I don't know where else to look for help.

I have RH 9.0 setup as a mail server (both imap and pop3). I have a windows machine
running Outlook Express which retrieves mail via pop3. In addition, I'm running
SquirrelMail 1.4.1 on the Linux system to read email via the web. Everything worked
fine until 1 week ago.

At that point, I started getting duplicated emails delivered to Outlook Express. I
also see a message in my log file as follows:

Oct 2 12:15:04 gateway ipop3d[8490]: Message 186 UID 361 greater than last 189

And a similar message mailed to me from logwatch as follows:

 --------------------- ipop3d Begin ------------------------
**Unmatched Entries**
   Message 186 UID 361 greater than last 189: 1 Time(s)
 ---------------------- ipop3d End -------------------------

I read the imap FAQ in section 7.14 which basically says, "don't worry about this,"
but I'm getting a ton of duplicate email delivered to me everyday. The only way I can
stop it is if I set Outlook Express to delete all read messages - which doesn't allow
me to use SquirrelMail. (I have Outlook Express configured to delete messages after 3
days.)

I understand that message UID order is somehow mixed up, but I don't know how to fix
it.

Any suggestions?

Mark

ps. I tried to post this to the group yesterday, but I don't think it went out, so I'm
trying again. I hope it isn't duplicated for anyone.
