I appreciate your time; Postfix settings are the cause. With all the reading
I've done and the books that I've bought, you'd think that I've come across
the postconf command and the sample-xxx.cf files that are out there. (The
samples are not located on my SUSE 8.2 server though)

this is most propably a postfix configuration problem that has nothing
to do with the imap protocol this list is about.

postconf | grep mailbox_size will tell you the current limit set for
your mailbox size. change this paramater in your postfix main.cf
