Several of my IMAP mail clients (Netscape Mail, Outlook Express, and MacOS X Mail) are having a strange issue: their message columns are reflecting a five-hour time difference from the actual timestamp on the incoming message. This error is not reflected in our WebMail program (IMP).
- I've checked both the software and hardware clocks on the mail server and both are set to the correct time (although the hwclock was originally set incorrectly -- five hours BEHIND the correct time).
- I've checked to make sure that the server time zone is correct.
- All timestamps in the mail headers are correct, and the timestamps display correctly in IMP, so this seems to be an IMAP/mail client issue.
- The issue seems only to afflict NEW mail client installations -- that is, mail clients installed since the mail server re-build in November -- but I can't say for certain that this is the case.
Our build:
Debian linux 3.0r1 qmail 1.03-24 UW IMAP 2001adebian
TIA for any suggestions,
Danny O'Brien
