Mine are just hypotheses, so don't take them for grant. :-)

"popular titles" are probably suggested based on previous searches,
and what users picked amongst the search results.
"exact matches", "partial matches" and "approx matches" do probably
exactly what they mean: they are just comparing the searched
string with the entries in their databased (in the last case,
applying some sort of string comparison algorithm).
