Hi Len, Thanks for the responce. I have been trying to read the manauls without bothering the list but its a lot of ground to cover.
Right now I am doing limited testing to get the hang of it. I have the MX for one domain pointed at IMGate. I have added lines to my transport map like: domain.com smtp:ipadressofIMail if I understand this allows for inbound mail for local "domain.com" to be relayed to ipaddressofIMail for local delivery. I did not put anything in the relay_domains file for the reason you listed. I have not found yet how to use the sender's email address of "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" in order for postfix to relay it to IMail to be sent outside my network. Since my clients do not all have static ips I need a method other than listing them in the main.cf under "mynetworks = " Todd ----- Original Message ----- From: "Len Conrad" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, August 04, 2006 1:30 PM Subject: [IMGate] Re: Mail to external domains >but it was rejecting email from my client machines due to the hostnames so >I >disabled the test those domains have to point thei MX at your IMGate you have to put those domains in your relay_domains file, and transport file. most people put the transport.map file as the .map file for both relay_domains and transport_maps, to maintain only one file. in transport.map, you put those domains and the IP or [label.domain.tld] of the machine your customer wants to receive mail at.
