has spamhaus, due to the legal problems, gone to an IP-addressed server rather than an domain-addressed server? or has anybody put up mirrors of spamhaus's databases? >2: GIF Spam: >I have implimented greylisting and the level of spam I am seeing, >especially image only spam, has dropped like a rock, . >To do this I added this to main.cf: > check_policy_service unix:postgrey/socket, >After installing this: postgrey-1.27 >http://isg.ee.ethz.ch/tools/postgrey/ We've done that, and spam and virus hits have dropped a bunch, no surprise. But we are still getting increasing complaints about the image spam. It's our number one problem. I see that ther are OCR modules, eg ocrtext.pm, that convert .gifs to text and then scan the text. Seems like an awfully expensive process in CPU power. >So Len, you going to share yours? Mine is about the same. Nobody has any secrets. I'm just trying to update the list so we all are benefiting from what any individuals have found that works or quit working. fwiw and btw, I manage 2 very high volume mutli-IMGate sites and they are both reporting significant, even huge, increases in rejects in the last 2 weeks or so.
