Apologies Hawk, as I stated earlier, your best guidance would be from Eric & Len. When I heard you mention dual homed I figured a Linux or BSD Firewall. Never heard of IMail on dual NICs although I'm sure its fairly common, hence my earlier BS about eth0 & eth1.
ANYWAY- What if you could NAT the IP inbound to one NIC and virtually host the domain of the second card on the first and go to a single nic? If you've got, or ever get a PIX firewall and ever chat w/Cisco afterwards they get damn tweaked about dual homed boxes doing end runs around their PIXs. Cant say I blame 'em as it is fine gear. (Only production firewall never cracked by a vendor flaw. Sorry CheckPoint fans.) I have one dual homed box, I'm decommisioning soon. Cisco will be pleased with me. Just an offer of a different spin on the problem, if you think a different direction might slay the dragon. Regrets if this is completely impractical for you -A
