Ok, so I have cranked all of the smtpd settings to 60s and I still get
this:

Reporting-MTA: dns; gate4.touchfon.com
Arrival-Date: Wed, 8 Jan 2003 15:49:32 +0000 (GMT)

Final-Recipient: rfc822; [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Action: failed
Status: 4.0.0
Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; conversation with
nav-gw3.mweb.co.za[196.2.51.42]
timed out while sending end of data -- message may be sent more than
once

I hate to keep upping them all, does anyone know which would be the
culprit?

Zuid Afrika is a long haul.

up, but not too much, whatever timeouts you think need to be longer.
