Maybe I'm calling it by a different name. I define "hostname verification"= where the recipients SMTP server verifies that the senders name matches = reverse lookup address. The following is a SMTP connection log:
SMTP Connection: OK, connected to 166.xxx.xx.xx... < 220 ntserver.xyz.local Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 5.0.2195.53= 29 ready at Wed, 15 Jan 2003 23:30:05 -0700=20 > HELO edit.dnsvr.com < 250 ntserver.xyz.local Hello [64.21.143.29] > MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> < 250 2.1.0 [EMAIL PROTECTED] OK > RCPT TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> < 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for [EMAIL PROTECTED] The could not deliver error occurs when sending to only a couple of domains= . Internet sends mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with DNS: domain.com mx 10 imgate.something.com. so what's "ntserver.xyz.local"? does exchange currently exchange mail with internet or is strictly an intranet mail server?
