>Well, this makes it official, regretfully monkeys.com is now gone.
There is a proposal to have ALL RBL servers approve ALL IPs as non-spam for one week, so MX's using RBL servers will get inundated with spam. ie, RBL servers would be useless for one week. Those of you who depend on RBL servers for most of your MX defense need to pay attention to what's happening, since it may get very nasty for you for 1 week, or longer. Also, those you who snicker and deride my subscriber filter should understand it is TOTALLY INSANE to accept indfinitely that 99+% of msgs from subscriber networks is spam. rr, shaw, comcast, attbi, telus, adelphia, etc, MUST stop the THEIR spew, or we will. The subscriber networks operators MUST be held accountable for the spew. yeah, yeah, I know. Your suits and users would much rather put up with the INCREASING insanity forever. But in the end, it is those very same people who value email so much that will lose. The other tactic is to insist on impeccable SMTP/DNS credentials from every IP before accepting mail. Credentials are easy to establish. Legit servers who can't put together the credentials should get out of the mail business, period. They are either incompetent, stupid, or don't care. There is no excuse for crappy credentials. Why should we give legit servers a pass so they can continue to have an SMTP/DNS profile that looks exactly like or too close to spammer "credentials", putting the burden on us to dig deeper to see if they are legit? People who depend totally on RBL servers as the bulwark of their defenses may be in for a very bad shock. Len
