I dont feel to bad about updating due to having a backup mx running an =
identical config. Keep in mind though that if you do update your kernel =
you will probably need to recompile postfix.

I never ever attempt to upgrade an operating system in place. Even my=20
own personal workstations get backed up and wiped so I can start from=20
scratch.

In the case of mission-critical servers which cannot afford that much=20
downtime, I have a standby server that I install onto and configure,=20
then roll it in place and change the IP on the old one. That way, if 6=20
hours later the new one should blow up in the middle of the night, I can =

revert back without having to drive into town. I keep the old one as hot =

standby for a few weeks (or sometimes, until the next upgrade cycle=20
comes along).
