A lot of times, spammers send mail directly to mail.domain.com, pop3.domain.com, smtp.domain.com, etc completely ignoring mx records. A decent way I've found around it, is to put your users on another server (separate from imail) for sending mail, using postfix and SASL, and perhaps a mysql database. The same mysql database can be used for cyrus sasl authentication and imail authentication.
Then, simply block port 25 on your IMail machine to everything except the relay you are using for spam filtering. I have both listed in the DNS record for the domain as MX records. Should I remove the Imail record? Or maybe they are sending directly to the IP? What is the fix for that? Put some type of port blocker on the Imail? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
