Adolfo You might want to check /var/log/messages for any errors. Check the output of 'top' to see what processes are running. Check the output of 'netstat -an -f inet' to see how many network connections are being used Are there any other proceses running (apache etc)
Maybe a 'tcpdump' will be usefull to see what network traffic is being generated etc. Do you have any entries in /etc/crontab that starts something when the problems happen ?? a backup maybe What version of freedsb is running (uname -a) what are the settings for your network card. It may be helpful to configure the speed and duplex settings on both the server and the switch if possible. Are you using a firewall on the server (IPFILTER, IPFIREWALL ??) Hope this helps Scott.
