Download the latest version, extract it, read the change log.

That should prep you for any major differences and issues.

The apt-get SHOULD do everything you need, but if you read the change =
log
first, you will be ready for any issues that may crop up.  Also, if =
there
are new options that are off by default, you will be made aware of them.

And remember to back up your configs just in case.
