Different IMAP servers will implement quotas and message deletions differently, as they implement how they store mailboxes differently and how they implement quotas. If you are using University of Washington IMAP on Unix using Unix quotas, for example, you will always need to have extra quota to allow the
mailbox to be copied to a temporary file when deleting messages. If you
are using Cyrus IMAP, which implements its own quotas and a file per message, you
won't need to have spare quota to delete messages. So if people running
out of quota is a problem for you, you should use an IMAP server that
will allow message deletions in that situation. It sounds like you have
an inappropriate IMAP server for your user requirements.

Do you mean that if mail server denies moving anything to different
directory if user's quota is reached, SO mail server doesnt work
correctly? Mail server should allow moving stuff from one dir to
another if quota is reached?

It won't matter. Several people have already told you that the ability of a
mail client
to delete messages on the server when you have run out of quota has NOTHING
to do with
the client. It is how the server handles deletion of messages. You need to
fix your
SERVER not the client. The client doesn't delete messages. The server does.
If the
server can't delete a message when a user is over quota it won't make a
blind
bit of difference having a button on your client that says 'Delete
immediately'.

For ability to delete messages. If mail server's quota is on and
client program doesnt provide marking messages as deleted or not using
vtrash.

For what purpose?

Anyway I would be glad (I think not only me) if in the next horde
release, feature "Delete emails permanently" will be included. F.e. if
user is not using Virtual trash and function "Marking messages as
deleted" is disabled, then button Delete emails permanently is shown.
It's just a suggestion.

No way. :) It is impossible to train them. All changes I make after updating horde must not be visible for my users. It's all about the
policy.

Well, those are your 3 options. Good luck!

Well there probably is another one: stop using quotas.
