Good afternoon list users, I am new on this list and having a weird problem with IMP ever since we had to reinstall one of our servers with the latest CentOS 4.7 distribution. Everything else Horde related works normally (Calendar, Addressbook).
After installing the CentOS 4.7 server with packages from centosplus (mainly PHP and Apache) IMP suddenly showed some weird behaviour when dealing with IMAP connections. As soon as a user tries to log in the server receives a GET request (shown in the access_log) and the client jumps to "Waiting for <server> ...". This is the last thing that will happen - no entries in any logs (access_log, error_log, horde.log, system logs - all settings to debug) about what is delaying the connection. Sometimes just clicking on a link or logging in again fixes that for a couple of page loads but then goes back to the delays. Also, as soon as I restart the apache server, the connections work normally for a couple of seconds before everything slows down again. I noticed that, when the connection is currently in the "Waiting" state for the client, closing down apache would cause some PHP files to be downloaded (sidebar.php for example). I assume that is normal when the server shuts down but yet interesting since it appears to be the last file being accessed before the wait occured. Long story short: I think I got it down to a problem in the IMAP requests. So I tried using an imapproxy to see if it is related to the imap connections - no change - which isn't a surprise since the IMAP server runs locally for authentication and mail access for the webmail clients. I tried with a different webmail client and everything worked fine. All this is happening on server 1. The second server, which is still running the older version of CentOS, doesn't have any problems as described. Both servers share the same configuration base for the webserver and other PHP related things (Zend, php.ini etc.). The only difference are the installed program versions. Also the horde framework and application configurations are the same on both servers. I did some searching on the web but none of the solutions or ideas really helped fixing this problem. I attached some information at the end of this mail - if you need any other information please let me know and I will send it in. Thank you for your time, I just don't know where else to look for the problem. Cheers, Sebastian Here the list of web related installed applications and versions on both servers: Server 1 with problems: gollem-h3.noarch 1.0.3-1.el4.centos horde.noarch 3.1.7-1.el4.centos httpd.x86_64 2.0.63-2.el4s1.centos imp-h3.noarch 4.1.6-1.el4.centos ingo-h3.noarch 1.1.5-1.el4.centos kronolith-h3.noarch 2.1.8-1.el4.centos libc-client.x86_64 2002e-14 mnemo-h3.noarch 2.1.2-1.el4.centos nag-h3.noarch 2.1.4-1.el4.centos php-cli.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-common.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-devel.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-gd.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-imap.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-ldap.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-mbstring.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-mcrypt.x86_64 5.1.6-1.el4.centos php-mhash.x86_64 5.1.6-1.el4.centos php-mysql.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-ncurses.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-pdo.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-pear-Auth-SASL.noarch 1.0.2-4.el4.centos php-pear-Date.noarch 1.4.6-1.el4.centos php-pear-db.noarch 1.7.13-2.el4.rf php-pear-HTTP-Request.noarch 1.4.0-1.el4.centos php-pear-log.noarch 1.9.3-1.2.el4.rf php-pear-Mail-Mime.noarch 1.3.1-8.el4.centos php-pear-Mail.noarch 1.1.14-1.el4.centos php-pear-Net-Curl.noarch 1.2.3-2.el4.centos php-pear-Net-SMTP.noarch 1.2.8-5.el4.centos php-pear-Net-Socket.noarch 1.0.6-5.el4.centos php-pear-Net-URL.noarch 1.0.14-1.el4.centos php-pear.noarch 1:1.4.11-1.el4s1.1 php-pear-Payment-Process.noarch 0.6.5-1.el4.centos php-pear-Validate-Finance-CreditCard.noa 0.5.2-1.el4.centos php-pear-Validate.noarch 0.6.4-1.el4.centos php-pear-XML-Parser.noarch 1.2.7-4.el4.centos php-pecl-zip.x86_64 1.8.0-1.el4.centos php-pgsql.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-xmlrpc.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 php-xml.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 squirrelmail-toaster.noarch 1.4.15-1.3.10 turba-h3.noarch 2.1.7-1.el4.centos Server 2 on older version 4.6: gollem-h3.noarch 1.0.3-1.el4.centos horde.noarch 3.1.7-1.el4.centos httpd.x86_64 2.0.59-1.el4s1.10.el4. imp-h3.noarch 4.1.6-1.el4.centos ingo-h3.noarch 1.1.5-1.el4.centos kronolith-h3.noarch 2.1.8-1.el4.centos libc-client.x86_64 2002e-14 mnemo-h3.noarch 2.1.2-1.el4.centos nag-h3.noarch 2.1.4-1.el4.centos php-cli.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-common.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-devel.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-gd.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-imap.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-ldap.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-mbstring.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-mcrypt.x86_64 5.1.6-1.el4.centos php-mhash.x86_64 5.1.6-1.el4.centos php-mysql.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-ncurses.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-pdo.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-pear-Date.noarch 1.4.6-1.el4.centos php-pear-Net-Curl.noarch 1.2.3-2.el4.centos php-pear.noarch 1:1.4.11-1.el4s1.1 php-pear-Payment-Process.noarch 0.6.5-1.el4.centos php-pear-Validate-Finance-CreditCard.noa 0.5.2-1.el4.centos php-pear-Validate.noarch 0.6.4-1.el4.centos php-pear-XML-Parser.noarch 1.2.7-4.el4.centos php-pecl-zip.x86_64 1.8.0-1.el4.centos php-pgsql.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-xmlrpc.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 php-xml.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 squirrelmail-toaster.noarch 1.4.9a-1.3.6 turba-h3.noarch 2.1.7-1.el4.centos And here, to make this mail longer, the diff of both (server1 -> server2): 3c3 < httpd.x86_64 2.0.63-2.el4s1.centos --- > httpd.x86_64 2.0.59-1.el4s1.10.el4. 6c6 < kronolith-h3.noarch 2.1.8-1.el4.centos --- > kronolith-h3.noarch 2.1.8-1.el4.centos 10,16c10,16 < php-cli.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-common.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-devel.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-gd.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-imap.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-ldap.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-mbstring.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 --- > php-cli.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-common.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-devel.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-gd.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-imap.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-ldap.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-mbstring.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 19,22c19,21 < php-mysql.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-ncurses.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-pdo.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-pear-Auth-SASL.noarch 1.0.2-4.el4.centos --- > php-mysql.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-ncurses.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-pdo.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 24,28d22 < php-pear-db.noarch 1.7.13-2.el4.rf < php-pear-HTTP-Request.noarch 1.4.0-1.el4.centos < php-pear-log.noarch 1.9.3-1.2.el4.rf < php-pear-Mail-Mime.noarch 1.3.1-8.el4.centos < php-pear-Mail.noarch 1.1.14-1.el4.centos 30,32d23 < php-pear-Net-SMTP.noarch 1.2.8-5.el4.centos < php-pear-Net-Socket.noarch 1.0.6-5.el4.centos < php-pear-Net-URL.noarch 1.0.14-1.el4.centos 39,43c30,34 < php-pgsql.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-xmlrpc.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < php-xml.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 < squirrelmail-toaster.noarch 1.4.15-1.3.10 --- > php-pgsql.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-xmlrpc.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > php-xml.x86_64 5.1.6-3.el4s1.8 > squirrelmail-toaster.noarch 1.4.9a-1.3.6 -- IMP mailing list -
