Your browser is reporting the wrong MIME type. IMP does not base64 encode text attachments.Huh; the same browser error on IE7/XP, FF/XP, and FF/GNOME??
I had a similar problem some time ago but it was related to always the same type of attachment (7z files). Setting the mime_magic.magicfile as described in http://wiki.horde.org/MimeMagic solved it, eg. unrecognized file types where sent binary/unmodified further on.
