you have to list googlegroups adresses under Preferences-Personal
Information-Tied adresses for respective Identity.
I had the same problem until I got that advice here.

Currently imp is using the http:// one, cause it comes first.
Which version do you use? This has been fixed ages ago. See
http://bugs.horde.org/ticket/8719.
