As previously explained, your IMAP server is broken. It
**appears** that it crashed when it tries to select a mailbox
immediately after APPENDing a message to it. My *guess* is that
using the CATENATE extension is broken on your server. But I have
no way of knowing for sure.
This is not the kind of issue we can work around at the client
side. It is possible to work around server bugs when they are
cause an error in a discrete command.
In short: fix/update your IMAP server.

Dear Michael,
I am sorry to bother you too often. Now, I am able to reproduce the
problem on another system with again using NetApp storage as FC disk.
Now, as suggested by cyrus-imap mailing list, I have generated a
back trace and I also have enable imap logging for the specific user.
Here is the backtrace. I will send the IMAP debug log from Cyrus
IMAP off the list.
Core was generated by `imapd'.

Exactly as I suspected - your IMAP server is broken. Not anything IMP
can do about this.
