these messages have only text inside (no multipart or html), others are
multipart.

reply or forward them, nothing is shown again as the original message in
the composer window, the only way is to switch to TXT to force it's
conversion.
These messages happen to be in utf-8 encoding (as everything is supposed to
be), if I modify by hand the "charset=utf-8" line in the mail and set
"charset=iso-8859-1" it shows perfectly in all windows (except special
chars, of course).
It sounds like your framework packages (specifically Horde_Util) is
out-of-date.
