As part of that community, the NPS has an important voice, but so do others. I am not saying that the proposed tagging is inappropriate, but I don't think "we are required..." should be the reason. A couple of options that I see: 1) Work to reach a consensus with the community - best. Hopefully we are close, but see caveat below. 2) NPS maintain a separate db of their official names which they link by ID. Problematic because links are likely to get broken. 3) Have a tag like "nps_name"
Caveat: Even you you start with the official name in the name tag, a local mapper may change it to match the signs. Mike
