Import pause ------------ http://tasks.openstreetmap.us/job/2 states "Do not use. Import paused until issues/28 is fixed"
There are a number of issues here - The ticket is closed, but the announcement is still up. This is confusing for anyone who follows the link in the announcement. Do we expect importers to follow the osmlab/nycbuildings github issue tracker? - I reviewed the plot of date and number of tasks completed, and there is no sign of a pause at any point while the ticket was open. The import proposal relied heavily on the tasking manager for managing coordination. Given that an announcement to pause imports was ineffective, this leads to the conclusion that there needs to be a different way to stop people from picking up new tasks in the tasking manager. A secondary question is why are they ignoring it? Does the documentation make them aware that announcements may be placed in the tasking manager? Are they not following the documentation in general? Tasks done exceeding validation ------------------------------- Currently we're at 104 tasks validated, with emacsen and lxbarth both having about 50, and me having 14. The numbers do not add up because sometimes you end up invalidating a task when given it for validation. There are about 2400 tasks marked as done, with about 1100 from Rub21, 600 from ingalls, 260 from lxbarth, 180 from ediyes, 120 from celosia, and the rest are under 40. This means there are about 2300 tasks that still require validation. The backlog is only growing worse. - We obviously need more validators. Two is not enough, given the backlog. - A better initial import quality will reduce validation time. I know emacsen has put in many hours validating and fixing mistakes. - Should the validators just invalidate a tile when they see a number of mistakes that show that the data was not properly checked? We don't really have a great way to return a task to the original importer to fix up and submit for revalidation. - Should we be pausing the import of new data to allow validation to catch up? This gives an incentive to catch up validation, but would it lead to people skimping on the validation? _______________________________________________ Imports-us mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/imports-us
