Hey,

I wasn't part of the import-us mailing list until a few minutes ago so I
have been following the conversation through the web archive.

Since I don't have any emails from the thread I can't reply directly so I'm
just going to send this to you in order to clear some things up.

It is true that at the beginning I _did not_ validate the entire data-set,
I only fixed errors that were direct results of the import. On the second
day, both you and Alex let me know that we were validating everything, not
just errors due to the import.

Since then I have not uploaded an import that does not have a clean
validation in JOSM. The chief exception being errors due to route relations
(errors in JOSMs validator, not the underlying data. and errors due to
similarity in the road names.)

I have also fixed major TIGER data errors as I have come across them. When
validating an area I have been checking EVERY street manually to catch the
smaller errors as well as ensuring that the validator comes clean.

When you made the statement
>ingalls is a local OSMer, not a MapBox employee, but he didn't do any
validation (like celosia).

the second part led to considerable confusion as since the second day my
imports have been as clean as everyone else's. That being said, there may
be small errors in some imports as small errors are easy to miss - that's
why we go back and validate. If you could show me a consistent problem that
my imports are causing due to how I am 'not validating' I would appreciate
it.

Cheers,
ingalls
