I'm interested in importing building footprints for Onondaga County in New York. The county has a public GIS instance located at http://www.fsihost.com/onondaga/ . The "Building Footprints" layer is of interest http://www.fsihost.com/onondaga/metadata/building_footprints.pdf . According to its metadata, "The dataset was created by Pictometry International using digital orthogonal aerial photography flown by Pictometry in April, 2014." . It was later updated in April 2018 using NYS Digital Orthoimagery and in 2019 by the county. Also important, "The spatial accuracy of the building footprint file should be similar to the stated accuracy of the aerial photography from which it is derived, approximately 3-5 feet. This dataset is not present in the "Potential Datasources" page on the OSM wiki.

Overlaying this on the Village of Liverpool, NY, the majority of structures are not present in OSM. The polygons line up properly with Bing Aerial imagery and are only off by a foot or so.

The licensing of this data needs to be determined, so I'll reach out to the contact listed in the metadata, and county office if required.

Would the OSM community be interested in importing this data?

I've outlined some useful data sources for Onondaga County, including the above data on my personal wiki page: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:Lobstereatery . I'll be adding information on this project, as well as a more concrete plan.

In the past, I've manually outlined and added many buildings for businesses in my area but this process is slow. Importing these building footprints would speed up the work of adding all buildings in my area, and in the future the whole county.

I would appreciate any comments and suggestions.
