The Register Authority of Iceland (Þjóðskrá Íslands) publishes daily an access address database, including co-ordinates and address properties, under the OGL license.

I've created a wiki page about the import and added to the catalogue http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Sta%C3%B0fangaskr%C3%A1_Import

Basically this will be run ad-hoc by postal codes. For example Akureyri is completely missing addresses (bar a couple of restaurant nodes) and is the first target. It contains two postal codes and so two imports will be done - as splitting up by postal codes is the most convenient way.

Using JOSM each area will be downloaded and the postal area evaluated. If buildings are missing (due to imagery quality) then address nodes will be created. If buildings exist then addresses will be added to the building polygons. In case of duplicate addresses then the importee is deleted before upload.

This is not very automated but handcrafted import.
