It could also be intermittent=yes.
I am quite satisfied with this import project and the wiki.  It confirms were
the waterways are fTooding. And it is easy with josm to realign if necessary.
And I dont buy the interpretation that these intermittent waterways should not
be traced because of climate change. We could argument that climate change
exacerbates succession dry periods and violent floodings. And we did observe
that everywhere in the recent years. These waterways are an important
characteristic to add to the map. Populated places are often at proximity and
these waterways are both used for communications in dry periods and for their
water ressource. This is also an important information to anticipate where
major floodings will have an impact.

 Hi Martin,
Thanks for your ideas. Meanwhile I was searching a bit and found the tag
flood_prone=yes in the highway-wiki for Africa
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Highway_Tag_Africa.
@Rafael: that would be a could choice for an highway inside a riverbed. What do
you think?

Hi Martin,

Any suggestions how to map a highway inside a riverbed? It should indicate
somehow that the highway may be flooded by water occasionally.

Thanks for your remark.

Regards

Arne

[ford=yes]

Good.

the wiki states a ford is for crossing a waterway, and this is what I would
expect as well. A highway running inside a (dry or semi-dry) riverbed rather
than crossing it, is not a ford.
